Actually, in my experience, the most common cause of the error you see here is the presence of a wireless repeater/extender on your network. Mario Kart Wii has massive trouble working with those, and often randomly produces this error if you have one.

  • Yeah, you know I play Strikers personally, right? Not frequently, but I have my own interest in the game surviving, so you don't need to be going on the offensive here. My eye is firmly on this game. I actually caught a bit of the MSC WC tourney on Twitch and it was a blast to watch. Definitely looking forward to seeing more of that in future. Anyways, like I said, any plan for this game to have special NAND access rights or similar would have to go through Wiimm rather than me, I poked my nose …

  • My point is basically that, if you remove the ability to ban players (which is what allowing a generic NAND would do), then it leaves the game open to exploitation in future. Also, no, that code I mentioned will definitely still exist on the Internet and if someone with a generic NAND used it and messed up the public matchmaking service, that'd be a pain. I know you guys don't use the public matchmaking much, if at all, but if the game ever gains any kind of resurgence then it'd be a shame for i…

  • There are still a few obnoxious codes that do work online, though, right? I've not seen it personally, but I've heard tell of a code that allows the host to reassign their opponent's team, which in a game like Strikers could be pretty obnoxious and without the ability to remove such players, could turn into a real pain. It is good that the game does have very strong synchronisation checking, though; Brawl should take notes and MKW is sobbing in a corner by comparison

Only CTGP changed the blue shell functionality, and it didn't change it in Worldwide VS mode, only in CTWW and certain friend rooms. So, this argument isn't quite right. When in WW, and friend rooms compatible with the base game, CTGP functions entirely normally, including blue shell behaviours. We all know the TC can be annoying and I personally agree it appears more frequently than would be ideal, but I also think rebalancing the game is not really Wiimmfi's job. I think if we did start doing …

The server doesn't control the item pool. The game handles all of that, it is not something that Wiimmfi can change.

I'm glad you've decided it's ended, but I don't think you can reasonably assert that. Also, in case it escaped your notice, Wiimmfi has gone through a LOT of changes in order to fix itself up - you think maybe, just maybe, there might be a bit more work to do?

  • Zitat von NEEDERMANN: „The game crashes when I choose the drift mode, in 4-player mode, I tried everything that appears in this image but nothing, the error persists, I don't know what to do “ I have heard that CTGP crashes if a Mii racer is selected in 4 player mode, have you tried without picking a Mii at all? 4 player in CTGP is kinda sketchy.

  • Oh my God, you're still trying this nonsense? I already removed the permanent ban from the console since it was made in error, but attempting to play the moderators off each other is a really, REALLY bad idea. Just wait out the ban. You are highly suspicious and I have no reason at all to believe that you weren't the one who cheated, especially with how you've been posting in my Discord server and how you've been looking into ban circumvention measures. Keep this up and I'll increase the ban, no…

  • The reappearance of EC 23887 seems to be a Wiimmfi error and will probably be fixed before too long.

  • ...Words cannot describe how stupid that response is. No, the point is to make sure that people don't get their consoles damaged, not to attempt to maintain some monopoly on MKW usership, you dolt. He's doing the responsible thing by telling people what the risks are. The vulnerability is not actually fixable server-side, hence we wrote a custom patching service for Wiimmfi to mitigate the problem, along with specialised patchers to allow the server to patch the game on-the-fly. It's not easy to…

  • I wouldn't be so quick to write off that it's not dangerous against Dolphin. RCE is a powerful thing, and Dolphin is a capable emulator and might obey things a little too literally in some cases. No matter how you look at it, having someone execute code on your game, be it a real console or be it Dolphin is not a good thing.

  • Thanks for your effort, guys! I'll be testing this update at 7pm BST tonight, and streaming the effort on Twitch. I'll report back if I notice any strangeness on my end!

It should actually be quite easy to fix. I found the location of the logic; tries up to 5 times before disconnecting. I forget where exactly it was, but you could always just not increment the fail counter if the host state is 2.

Happy New Year! Countdown room UJ16 (old status page) finally came to a close after 82 hours and 20 minutes, at around 9:00am UTC today. I didn't see the end, but according to those who were there, it looks like a bad disconnection occurred and eliminated the entire room when the voting screen desynchronised (one player failed to vote for a track endlessly and the room timed out). The DG52 representation of the room (new status page) ended much earlier, following a room split that confused the p…

Yeah, I disabled that just now, I always planned to if I woke up and the room was still there, and lo and behold, it is. 52 hours, 22 minutes and still completely filled with 12 players.

Currently ongoing is the longest-running public match I've ever seen on Wiimmfi (or on WFC for that matter)... Room DG52/UJ16 (depending on status page) is a public Countdown regional match that has been running for just over 43 hours. It seems that there have been at least 568 races so far in the room. It currently has 12 players and shows no sign of letting up! This beats out the longest known CTWW by a considerable margin, and while I don't have statistics for regular WW VS, those rooms don't…

I would not want OpenHost disabled in public matches. If anything, maybe a new OpenHost setting is appropriate, where a user can select if they want blacklist mode in public matches or only in private ones. Also I stand by the decisions I made in implementing VR search on CTWW. 80 seconds gives plenty of time for you to find an room whose host has similar VR to yours, or to create a new one with someone who's searching at the same time as you. Failing that, there probably isn't an appropriate ro…

  • Zitat von Starlight: „It could even open the way for CTGP on Dolphin, maybe @MrBean3500vr ? “ Not a chance. And I don't need to go into why not, you already know the reasons and how this doesn't help with any of them.

  • You shouldn't need to wait twice if the setup is done properly. Did you remember to enter your console's wireless MAC address? EDIT: May well be wrong about that, actually. I'm surprised a full NAND dump doesn't cover everything, but maybe it doesn't.
