Another way I can think of getting it to work is to use hostednetwork method which requires you to have a wireless network adapter that supports it however I couldn't get it to work with my Wii U which for some odd reason running the Wii U in vWii mode doesn't seem to send any packets at all to the computer.

My guess is that you either didn't do step 3 or you set the routing settings on your router wrong. Also what operating system are you on?
