Doesn't one of us need to have our Wii DMZed or port forwarded for us to be able to connect? My DMZ is set up but I'm sometimes still unable to connect to other players I see on the Wiimmfi stats page.

I did try a game with a friend but it was laggy as hell on both ends, I believe I heard that the game runs smoothly online yet there we were with issues. Could it be just Wiimmfi load since we were playing in peak MKWii time? Which would make sense except we've been playing The Last Story with little to no major issues over Wiimmfi during the same time periods.

Are you far away from your opponent? More so than many other games, fighting games can be smooth under good conditions but can be very sensitive to lag if the connection isn't great.
