Using Dolphin with Wiimmfi
As a lot of people experience issues with Dolphin, I have decided to explain how to use it on Wiimmfi, correctly.
PLEASE NOTE: You need to have 60FPS 100% of the time if you are playing online with others on Mario Kart Wii (and others too!) otherwise you will get a ban as you will be delayed, could be last but then show as first due to timings.
Yeah, this got a 2018 update. Now with more ease!
As the Dolphin warning mentions, you'll lose all existing savedata that Dolphin already has when doing this, so back it up first! There's a nice "Export" and "Import" in Dolphin tools ;)
Requirements
- Dolphin - People have recommended the Ishiiruka build
- A NAND dump from your own personal Wii (BootMii 100% on Wiis, even if only IOS, otherwise the HBC app version for vWii) and the keys (usually embedded in the booti
- A text editor (I suggest Notepad++, or Notepad - Word/WordPad may breaks things and cause Dolphin to not work!)
The easiest steps
First, open Dolphin, then select "Tools -> Import BootMii NAND Backup..." and select your Wii's NAND. Then, accept the warning (if there is one), then wait. It'll do it all for you
However, you still need to add your Wii's MAC to Dolphin. To do this, go to your Documents folder (on Windows; on Linux/Mac, go to your home directory, also known as ~/ - Mac people, hit ⌘⇧G) and then into Dolphin Emulator, then Config, and then there'll be a Dolphin.ini file - open this in notepad(++)/TextEdit/etc, and edit the WirelessMac line so that it contains your Wii's MAC.
Once finished, save and launch a Wiimmfi Patched game, and it *should* work.
