I Can't stress how happy I'am to found such a project and community. Working hard in the free time, without the source of the code or anything, just selfless effort for what they love. Developers and Modders like this keep the world being a little bit more human.
I know this is a Long shoot, and I'm very aware that things can be very difficult to implement, but I guess I would not cause anyone harm asking.

What is the chance to adapt the net-code to have a mario kart patched version that instead of connecting to a remote server, can connect to a local server and run in LAN mode.

Is kind of ridiculous that Nintendo didn't provide a LAN mode out of the box, when every single console have a wifi lan card adapter. Also now that you can bought cheap wiis for 50€ and toss some screens and have a mario kart LAN party would be super cool. I guess would be limited to 2 per console (as online) 6 consoles + 12 people = inzane fun

I understand that would be very difficult of implement but I have hope.

seems like the chance of having a proper wii mario kart lan party is not to far away
For what I understand that would allow to run in a box a server, the only complex bits are the setting the wii pointing to the "local " server instead the one actually running.

"Our Messiah" however think that running the show on the online servers would just work, since most of the traffic would not get out of the local network. I guess the only point would be to have the accounts created a week before the LAN PARTY to have 12 user accounts ready, right ?


Are you talking about netslug-wii ? I understand that is something that allow net-play in games that don't have online componente ( wii sports) are you talking of that or something else?

I bought a second wii and registered a new user for it.
I created the 2 accounts friend to each other and did a test
It worked amazing the see each other and managed to create a room and invite the other user etc.
I did also add a second player in each wii (so 2 guest) and they were able to connect to wiimfii
so 1 registered user on each wii and 1 guest user total 4 players

SO I CAN SAY MARIO KART LAN PARTY IS POSSIBLE AND IS AWESOME

When I was testing on my own, I found that the moment one user stops using a controller the connection would stop and put everyone out of the room and the wiimfii.
I guess is done so people that are not playing go away and don't bother people that play, but in a private room is kind of pointless. Anyhow small detail for all the awesomes that this bring.

To do: buy another wii x 2 controllers and tv and play insane 6 players mario kart

You have 4 wii and 4 Tv all connected that's super, using wiimmfi I guess?

Yes the only way to link 2 wii was trough wiimmfi only. But It works as a charm!
Im buying an extra LAN adapter so i would try to connect also Mario Kart Double Dash (using devolution)
At them moment using wifi was not possible. (my router is not helping i guess)
