      when i saw that tournaments on wiimmfi is now a thing the first thing that came into my mind was "could animal crossing WC24 capabilities be back from the dead?" i honestly would like to see WC24 go into more games and not just mario kart.
      explanation in short because i dont thing i explained it well: could someone bring back animal crossings WC24 capabilities for wiimmfi in the form of a patcher? is it even possible?

      Depends.

      WiiConnect24 consists of two parts:

      First part: Mail exchange. You were able to write mails to other people (Wii or actual emails) and receive them, probably also in Animal Crossing (?) but I don't know that game.
      Second part: WC24 acted as a "download manager". Games were able to write an arbitrary URL into the WC24 file, and this download manager periodically downloaded that URL and stored it into the savegame.

      The first part does not work yet, but the team of RiiConnect24 is working on that.
      The second part, however, is very very game-dependant. It would take me only five minutes to adapt the competition patcher so that it also patches the Animal Crossing entries to Wiimmfi, but we do not know what file format / files / data AC expects to download with this service - this was game-dependant data from Nintendo's servers and someone (not me) would need to analyze many many "wc24dl.vff" files from people who have previously played Animal Crossing.

      you were right, the first part animal crossing did support, and the second part seems very complicated, what if somebody hacked the items and letters you would get from Nintendo via WC24 into the game today? would you be able to look at the WC24 files if they were hacked in or would you need real game dumps from saves that were there when the event actually happened?

      i just got kinda curious and this may not do anything and i may be dumb but, if you converted the competition patcher for animal crossing like you said you could what would happen in game? nothing im guessing?
