Causing mass Disconnections after the 'fix' (MKWii)

Hello there,

this morning, I was linked to a post on this forum stating that a bag causing mass disconnections for some players had recently been fixed.

I've had a problem of mass disconnections ever since I got my new internet connection (provided by Telekom, Germany). I've tried everything to fix it, using multiple channels to connect to Wiimm-fi, using both a wired and wireless connection (using multiple routers) and even using an older Wii to check if the issue would appear there. It did, sadly.

And so, after seeing a bug like that had been fixed, I got very excited to try and see if it fixed the cause of my issues. Sadly, after about 2-4 races, I cause a mass disconnection and am the only one left in the room.

Does anyone know why this bug/issue happens or what could cause it?

The bug that was fixed sadly had no impact on stability or disconnections, it was just assumed to cause problems - which it might have, but not the problems you are experiencing.

You said you tested different routers - as in, you actually replaced your main router which estabilshes your DSL connection?
Did you add port forwardings for UDP 1024-65535 for your Wii to the router?

It's not stability that I'm having issues with, but sudden disconnections. My connection is perfectly fine, and then suddenly a mass disconnection is caused.

I replaced the router which is connected to my DSL Modem, not the modem itself, seeing as it can't be replaced. (We use Telekom's SIM card/mobile network based connection)

I've added just the port 65535, not the 1024 part, however. I'll try!

Mobile network? Then this is probably the problem, because you probably have a CGN on your Internet connection which usually does not work quite well with online games. That normally results in other errors though...

Maybe the signal strength of the Internet connection is just shit and that's why you disconnect?

Also, you should forward all the ports between 1024 and 65535, not just these two. And/or configure your wii as "Exposed Host" in the router.

The mobile network may be the issue; perhaps your IP is changing to a different network on their end, or they're throttling you; most regular games could deal with it, but it's MKW, it's as about as stable as Uranium 235 sometimes

Should've mentioned that other games work completely fine. Games like osu!, Overwatch, etc.

I hope that the problem is fixable, I really do. D:

I am forwarding all of those ports, yeah.

The signal strength is consistent and strong, so it shouldn't be a problem really.

Other games also don't use one of the shittiest network engines I've ever seen.

If neither port forwarding nor using LAN nor swapping routers helped then the problem is your internet connection.

What I find hilarious is that they did release a better net SDK iirc later on, and Nintendo could've pushed out new discs with them and use some more of that unused space...

We know, that WLAN can be critical, because MKW needs a constant data stream. Also the PING times must be low. And if WLAN maybe critical, mobile data transfer is much more critical.

@Leseratte my dad has found a way to configure which device uses which connection, LTE or DSL. Until now, he couldn't configure which line was used, and all devices automatically connected to LTE.

Thing is, to make a connection run over DSL, I need the IP of the server the device is meant to connect to. Problem being, I don't have the Wiimmfi Server's IP. I don't even know if it's even static, I don't know much about setting up servers, nor do I know if the IP is even public.

Port forwarding isn't really possible, we can only forward 100 ports at a time.

Can't you use a DNS server to resolve the Wiimmfi IP?

What do you mean by that? Sorry, again I don't know much about this stuff.

That doesn't work. You can make the Wii connect to Wiimmfi with the DSL line, but you'd also need to know all the IP adresses of all the other players. Can't you make the Wii's IP use the DSL line?

Would I do that using DMZ mode? If so, I could try that, I guess.

No. Instead of making all connections *to* Wiimmfi go over DSL, you'd need to make all connections *from* your Wii go over DSL, independant of the destination,

Well, how would I do that? The issue here is connecting my wii to DSL at all.
