Working around error code 86420?

Almost every time I connect to Wiimmfi, I get disconnected when searching for a room to join with error code 86420 – I got into a room once, but got D/Ced when the race preview ended.

I saw the error code description on the Wiimmfi website, but forwarding all ports to my Wii is not an option sadly. Is there any way to avoid the error (or find out with any more detail what's going wrong) without doing that, or am I just going to be unable to play online?

What type of device do you use to connect to the internet? Is it a mobile type modem or something?

Nope, just a normal consumer router.

Does said router have a "DMZ" function? This may be an option for you if it does; most European routers should have them, but I can't account for every device ;p
Try googling "Router Model DMZ mode" if you can't find it; if it's an issue with permissions (i.e. billpayer wont let you go on the admin page or you don't know the password), try "router model default password" or explain to your billpayer why you need the login.
