@Leseratte - Speedometer? Really? Are you saying people that play CTGPR in a WW will get banned for having a speedometer?

You know about the items shared by GURU right? Is there a way to detect that? I heard it was a code that can't be detected, but I'm not too sure.

Could one make mods like CTGPR being treated es seperate games (when working together with the modders)?
Then there should be no problems as only players of each mod or the base game could play together (but it would lead to fragmentation

).

That is already the case for most of the mods. They use regions so when they do regional play, they do not get mixed with other mods. As for global, these mods (e.g. CTGP and Wiimm's mods) only allow to play original tracks when playing global so there should be no problems about that.

Currently people using WW when booting CTGP with CTs enabled DO get a speedometer in WW. I don't believe this does provide a serious advantage, but if it will cause problems, we can disable the speedometer in WW in the next release.

Is the Blue Shell drag function enabled in regular WW? That's certainly a much bigger concern than the som as it frees up the item slot if I remember correctly.

Both functions - Blue Shell Drag and Speedometer - are enabled in WW. Both gives you an advantage, and if possible, those functions should get tuned off for WW next update.

And yes, in a global Race it IS an advantage having a speedometer so you always know if you're fast enough to take a specific way/shortcut.

You won't get banned for only using the Speedometer as we have no way to ckeck if somebody uses this, but if you want to play fair, you should disable any cheat that gives you additional information the other players don't have.

Alrighty, I will handle those soon and disable them when racers go into Worldwide races. (You can't go Regional in CTGP-R, so no worries there).

Although I think we'll be waiting a little bit before we push another update through the CTGP update server. We're drowning in connections currently.

Would be cool to have a list of banned profiles someday so we can see if the players we reported have been banned.

Are you also thinking about some possibility to report hackers apart from using the forum? Like a formula where you can enter the time, a comment on what hacks you think he used, his Mii Name, maybe your own friendcode since you know that and it might be related in the logs somehow (?) and require a YouTube video proof? Maybe someone or even I could set that up. Shouldn't be too hard to create a formula with those few inputs I hope.

Time + Video proof would be a requirement. I'm also thinking about using a Wii bot to play some WW + using mkwana to instantly ban people with cheats but that would be something to think about at a later time (if there are too many cheaters or something).

If the Bot is running only the report would be required and the bot could look into the races.

I think Tock's idea is very good except the automatic ban because something like this could create many problems. In my opinion it would be better if the bot would notify Wiimm, Leseratte etc. about the possible cheater and they would ban them manually after controlling the log and coming to the conclusion that the player was cheating.

It would only be used to verify that someone is cheating by driving with them and people who can ban must do it manually.

Wiimm would use his own tool, mkw-ana, just as the bot would do. No one would take the time and effort to read logs manually by his own eye just to ban a cheater. You can pretty much rely on mkw-ana especially when it detecs multiple cheats or multiple uses of cheats. There might always be false alarms but not multiple times in a race.

I like the idea of the bot but I think it would also be good to have a formula that lets you report players with a video proof and timestamps so that everyone can make use of that.
As for the two or three videos that were already posted here, it's 100% obvious that the players cheated and I think we could need more of these reports.

There will be a solution. Wiimm and Leseratte are already thinking about a few possible methods how this can be done.
They have the greatest knowlegde of how they can detect cheaters so just let them do their work.
It won´t help very much if everyone posts his or her ideas because they know exactly what they can do.

To use mkw-ana you need to drive with those people. That essentially what the Bot would do so I can look into the mkw-ana tool and ban those people if they cheat :p

Wiih said that Wiimm and Leseratte should "look into the logs" and I assumed he meant the logs that your bot would create. So I just wanted to point out that there's no reason for Wiimm or Leseratte to look into the logs of your bot when the bot itself could use mkw-ana, just like Wiimm and Leseratte would do anyways.

Now if the bot would ban automatically based on what mkw-ana says or if you apply a ban based on what mkw-ana says... I don't think there's any difference apart from efficiency.

Well, I now looked at the video proofs, but at the moment I'm unable to search for a Mii name in the database or to see each players who were online at a specific time. Maybe Wiimm can see something in the logs.

Best for us would be having a network dump running when you see a cheater...

mkw-ana can only detect cheaters during game, not on server side. So, you have to play MKW to detect cheaters and that's what a bot can do - always being in a race, staying in last position, doing nothing and simply capturing the network traffic.
