Is there any program to open and "understand" the .vff files in order to send you files with information?

There is a script to extract those, but I don't have the download link any more (I only have the script on my computer). You can just give me the complete vff file, there is no private data in it.

The script we use is by Marcan (y'know, the one who's name is listed in Team Twiizers and all exploits we use), as I had contacted him asking him to fix it so it works with wc24dl.vff aswell.

If the message service wasn't enabled, the wii wouldn't even have downloaded the letter. But maybe it was another wii, or there way another issue.

You can't unless you follow my tutorial to enable competitions - which is not public yet.

@Leseratte I found a very old MKW savegame on my old nand backup - it has the 2009 july first competition and the list says that you have it ''partially'', so, i'll send it to you via PM.

"find" your NAND?

The NAND is the internal flash memory of your Wii. And if you have created NAND backups with Bootmii in the past, you should have the file "nand.bin" on your SD card or somewhere on your computer. This file also contains a Mario Kart savegame, and so, probably a competition, too.

Depends what you mean with "custom track tournaments". Yesterday I tried modifying the Mario Kart VFF data to accept larger files to actually send out a whole custom track, but then a competition download failed with NWC_INTERNAL_VF_ERROR, so this doesn't work.

But Chadderz and MrBean could theoretically write a code into CTGP to create a download request for a file into the WC24 download engine, so it could download files into the CTGP savegame (or just write some download routine into CTGP itself).

Sorry that I wasn't specific enough, I meant tournaments in CTGP. But if what you say is true, about the error, and MrBean doesn't write the code(which I can understand since he probably has things to attend to in his real life) then it won't ever happen. I'd still be cool with Nintendo track tournaments, since I'd never played in a tournament in MKW before.

They are also spending time (a lot?) on their ghost feature thing so I wouldn't see a problem with implementing the competition download. It is basically just downloading a file over HTTP (which could be done every time it checks for updates anyways) and writing it into the savegame.

All they'd have to do is do what MKW does - when you hit 'update data' IIRC it manually downloads the file. If @MrBean35000vr would like to implement this, I'm sure we could even make it vote-based.

Yes, it could be really cool if Nintendo Tournaments are playable like a CT track. Thus, we have all the time to hit a good time in Time Trial.

Playing tournaments as a time trial will require more work and I don't think that'll be possible.

I don't know where I got that. If you really want to have that, i could upload it somewhere.

But extracting the folder structure for VFF files is nothing a "normal person" needs to do. This is usually only needed for us developers to extract the competition data from the VFF file.

The script is at marcan.st/transf/vffdump.py and can be used for other VFFs too. For example, if you have updates for your game (SSBB is one), they're inside a VFF

@Leseratte I tested this RKC with dolphin by editing my wc24dl.vff file with a hex editor and it works perfectly. The competition list says that you don't have it, so, here is: (attachment)
