Brawl ''With anyone'' problem with regions isn't solved?

Hello, I have a PAL Wii with a PAL Brawl disc. It seems that this isn't working for me, because of 2 reasons:

1) When I start up Basic Brawl, it never finds other players.

Especially this reason 2): I have several Brawl friends from other regions, like the USA. When you are looking at your friends while in-game, you are able to see your friends online, but you can also see the activity of them. My game showed activities saying ''searching for Basic Brawl (or something like that). So I suddenly did the same thing, but I couldn't find any players. When I quit searching for them (after 3> min), they were still searching for players in Basic Brawl. This happened multiple times. Those players were from other regions.

I wonder if there's a solution for this.

The problem with Brawl's online mode is that when a match starts, the wii console's communicate with each other directly, not through the Wiimmfi server. This can lead to some problems if you are trying to play with people out of your region.

It sounds like:
1. The patch for making PAL/NTSC-U players compatible in "anyone" mode failed. I'm not 100% sure this is the case since this was tested by Wiimm himself and some other person(I forgot who it was!) and it worked okay, but when I tried to use it with a player from the PAL region, it wouldn't work.
2. The other players disconnected before a match could start, since the distance was too large between yours and their consoles.

Thanks for your reply! It sounds like a huge problem. Isn't there any way to solve the problem?

What do you mean with ''the patch''? What does that mean? I am not using something like that. The only thing I am using is Wiimmfi. Is that what you mean?

The Wiimmfi server is supposed to automatically apply this patch if it detects that people from different regions are searching.

Okay, so my Wii is already using the patch? Then you're probably right, the patch doesn't work I think.

Uh, no. The patch is not permanent, iirc. Which means, that the server has to apply it to your game every time it detects that the out of region players are searching.

The server doesn't "apply" anything to the game. Basically, the game asks "tell me about players who are playing basic brawl in the PAL region" and the server just ignores "in the PAL region" and returns all the players no matter what region they are in.

Oh, now I understand... Btw, when I was searching, it didn't even show players. If it does, then there's still a chance that the match will crash, or something like that. I think it's better not to search for random players, but that it's just better to play by adding players so that you can play with friends, whom have been added.

Sure you can, because the server will return all players not just the ones from your region.

But as you found out, apparently that doesn't work properly. Maybe because the ping is too high to other continents.

My suggestion: There is a kind of protection on peer-to-peer level, if the packet run time (also called ping time) between the clients is to large.

Ok. But this wasn't the case with SSBB before 2014 (with WFC). I don't really understand what's causing the problem with the ping time after 2014.
Do you think there is a solution for that?

I've heard that SSBB had always this problems.
And I believe it, because its seems to be a client-to-client issue and the client didn't changed.

But in the old WFC day there were much more players online and it was easier to find opponents with good ping times. So matchmaking was much easier and more successful.
