Mario kart Wii shows all kinds of stats like: connection info, all the different rooms that are open, etc. Why can't Mario kart DS be like that? Just a question. (Topic is subject to change)

Because I never played MKDS, I have no interests in MKSDS and have never analyzed MKDS.
For MKWii I (or better we!) have much knowledge about semantics of network traffic. I started the analysis in 2012.

That depends. In theory, that would be possible, but it would be much more difficult than for Wii. First, Wii and DS online servers were much simpler than 3DS and WiiU online, simply because they are older and have less features. And second, Wii and DS online built upon Gamespy, so we were able to use available Gamespy documentation while making Wiimmfi. The 3DS and WiiU online service is entirely custom-made.

But we did this only later for fine tuning. In the beginning, the development was only based on traffic analysis.
