[Wii] Question about multiplayer and networking for homebrew software.

Wiimmfi is a replacement server service infrastructure for commercial Wii and DS games, that used the GameSpy servers for their online services (the majority of them does). Developers of homebrew games with multiplayer and/or online stats (or any other online functionality) can implement their own servers without relying on Wiimmfi.

If you wanted to implement online support for your own homebrew game, that wouldn't need a custom region on Wiimmfi, that would need a whole custom game config on Wiimmfi. While that's certainly possible on Wiimmfi's part, I believe it will be very very difficult to actually implement all the Gamespy and Nintendo login logic into a Wii homebrew game, and it'd probably be way easier to make your own servers.

I'm curious... can a GameSpy based PC game works on wiimmfi? I know that it doesn't use nintendo's server like nas or naswii, but uses for example master, natneg etc. Can wiimmfi, with few changes, works for theese games?
Probably not. Wii games use the Nintendo server to log in, PC games use the Gamespy servers themselves. All the user account code (login, search, registration ...) isn't implemented on Wiimmfi as it's not needed for Wii and DS.
