Add Special Cup to MKW distribution like MKW Deluxe

How would I add a special cup like in MKW fun where one track is randomly chose of 1) the new ones 2) classic wii ones 3) ... 4) ... to a distribution like MKW Deluxe? Which files will I need to edit?

No files needed, just add the related track ids to the cup and define BMG messages 0x7000+track_id.

What definition file do you use? The old CT-DEF or the new LE-DEF (see first line of the file)?

I didn't assemble a distribution myself - just want to add some tweaks to an existing one. I'd like to modify the existing Distribution "MKW - Deluxe" and haven't fully looked into it yet.I'm still trying to understand what to do to add a random selection cup.

That is not implemented by my tools and I have never done it. There is a theoretical way to do it:

extract: wlect dis lecode-PAL.bin ledef= def-file.txt
edit file def-file.txt, insert as first APPEND-VS instruction: APPEND-VS rAll rOrig rCust rNew
update LE-CODE: wlect dis +IN-LECODE lecode-PAL.bin def-file.txt PAL=new-lecode-PAL.bin
Add BMG messages for the random entries.

I'm not sure, if it really works.

This seems to mess with MKW - Deluxe cups. It has about 140 cups and wherever I insert the line you gave me, the tracks then get mixed up and only about 20 cups remain.

Which version of SZS tools did you use? I used v2.30a/Linux and the transformation worked (not tested).

I think I have expressed myself in a misleading way.

The deluxe blue edition usually has about 140 cups. when I use the bin now (the same thing happens with yours and mine) I only see about 20 of them.

It seems that with the mkw deluxe edition the cup arrangement has been modified somewhat?

It will not work, because there are grouped tracks. And therefor we need the original definition file with more infos. I give up.

Today I looked for the reason why it didn't work. It's the filter that reads the data from a LE-CODE binary file. This procedure was never planned and therefore never tested. I still put it on my to-do list.

Thank your for keeping me updated. Would you mind elaborating what exactly caused the cups to be messed up? The editing of the existing lecode-USA.bin with wlect or the way the cup order is designed in the bin?

Today I completed the import form a LE-CODE binary. Then I did the steps of above and here is the result (untested by me):

2 Issues:
* The random cup is Cup 9
* The final cup is empty and may have issues with the cup icon.

Yes, all the cups are working fine and there's a 9th cup being empty. I noticed there's also another cup at the end being empty as well - I guess the cups automatically get added in case there's an odd number of cups?!

Would it be possible for me (after you have updated the filter and published it) to add the cup at the end - or even two cups as one is automatically added as well and fill it with randomizing mechanics as well?

As far as I have read you have reserved 4 flags for those mechanics - would it be possible to add even more if I want to create different type of sets to chose from?

With the next release of the SZS tools (I'll release it in the next days) you can manage it by yourself. It is possible to place then new cup anywhere. To see the names of the random selection, you have to add them to the UI files. Same for the missed cup icons. wiki.tockdom.com/wiki/LE-CODE/Distribution_Tutorial explains how to do this.
