Hi --
I'm trying to change the Client ID of a couple Miis to match the NAND's Client ID. No problem. But now I need to update the checksum. According to this page...
wiibrew.org/wiki//shared2/menu/FaceLib/RFL_DB.dat
... I need to update 0x1f1de & 0x1f1ef with the CRC-16 of 0x0 through 0x1f1dd. And I've found proof of the latter. If I delete a Mii using the Mii Channel and diff the previous RFL_DB with the updated one, the only change (outside of the section with the deleted Mii being zeroed out) is to 0x1f1de & 0x1f1ef. However, I don't think the range used for the checksum is correct?
No HEX editor I've used is "correctly" calculating the CRC-16 for what the Wii expects. So I'm unable to make any edits to the file, as it will be determined to be corrupted by the Wii.
I was wondering if anyone could shine some light on this? It'd be much appreciated!!
